Who we are…

St James' is a warm, lively, evangelical community within the Church of England. We are committed to proclaiming and living the good news of Jesus Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit.

We are called to…

Worship God
To gather together as a fellowship of believers to worship God, to pray and to encourage personal growth

Share Jesus
To proclaim the good news of Christ to all the people of Millbrook and Carrbrook

Serve the Community
To show Christ's love through service to the community

What we believe

We believe that God is the ruler of all people and all things. We believe that He created the earth and everything that exists. We believe His son, Jesus Christ is also God and that He came from heaven to earth to die a horrible death, to pay a sacrifice so that we can go to heaven if we choose. We believe that He showed defeat over death by rising to life again and that He went to heaven to be with His Father. We believe God, in another form, the Holy Spirit is at work in our lives when we invite him in and we believe that if we sacrifice ourselves to God, we will receive many blessing whilst we are still on earth, but also spend eternity with God in heaven. We believe that we have found the only no lose situation!!

We believe that Jesus changes lives and brings fulfillment - "I have come that they may have life, and have it TO THE FULL"! (John Chapter 10 Verse 10)

Our Work

This section of the website is devoted to the work we do in the community and the organisations that we support as a church, not only through our charitable giving and donations, but also in our prayers and other practical ways. For any more info email us.

Action in the community
Our mission statement and the Bible both call us to take the good news of Jesus into our community. We sometimes call mission work “outreach” and this is essentially what it is – reaching out to people – either to tell them the good news we believe or just to show our faces! We believe this is so important. Jesus Himself said, “Go, then, to all peoples everywhere and make them my disciples…” (Matthew, chapter 28, verse 19).

We seek to organise various social events in order to meet with local people and regularly pray for the people of our Parish.

Charities we support
We also support a number of charites both financially and through our prayers. Please click the relevant buttons below to view some of the organisations we are currently supporting.
